How difficult are they to assemble?
All Garden Greenhouses are shipped in pre-assembled
panels and are the
easiest greenhouses to assemble
on the market.
This is not a kit that requires
a great deal of your time to assemble. We do as much of
the work for you as possible. The panels are simply bolted
and screwed together and anchored to your foundation.
The instructions include a detailed step-by-step
explanation, along with numerous photos, of each important
step in the setup.
What materials do you use to make the greenhouses?
The frames are constructed using select wood that has
excellent weather resistant characteristics.
In addition, all wood surfaces are finished with a
preservative for added protection from the sun and rain.
Our wood frames offer advantages over metal frames because
they provide much better insulation and do not promote
condensation inside the greenhouse which can damage
plants. A wood frame greenhouse will also look better
next to your home.
The standard glazing used is a commercial grade 8mm
twinwall polycarbonate. This material is durable, weather
resistant, does not yellow, and has excellent insulation q
ualities. Polycarbonate is 85% lighter than glass. It is
impact and shatter resistant and 200 times stronger than
glass making it very safe. It is virtually maintenance
free and only requires a periodic cleaning to maintain
its light transmission qualities. The material is treated
to give it protection from harmful U.V. rays and comes
with a 10 year limited warranty.
The glazing is available in different shades for you
specific growing requirements. Other glazing can be
provided on request.
Can I grow vegetables in the winter?
Most vegetables can be grown during winter months in a properly
equipped greenhouse. A properly sized heater is important to maintain
temperatures over minimum levels. The greenhouse also should be positioned
to get the maximum exposure to the sun.
Vegetable hybrids have been developed that perform better in a greenhouse environment and can be
obtained from most of the seed distributors. We have had particular
success with winter tomatoes using the Blitz variety.
What is the best flooring for my greenhouse?
The floor that we recommend is #8 limestone. It is
economical and very easy to do. The limestone allows water to
drain through but retains enough moisture to maintain adequate
levels of humidity.
